CALDWELL CONNECT


OVERVIEW

Caldwell Connect originated in the Fall of 1999 to provide assistance to resident students who want to connect their personal computers to the campus network. During the summer of 1999 each resident hall room was wired to allow each student direct access to the campus computer network. In order to assist resident students, we have a small group of trained technical students that provide the primary support for this program.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

The Caldwell Connect support line is available, Spring and Fall Semesters, during the following hours:

Monday - Thursday:
By Appointment Only during the following hours: NO Drop-Offs will be accepted

10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Technical Assistants may be available during these hours to field any questions or problems pertaining to Internet Connections in the dorms. Hours are subject to change around student tech availability.

COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS

Caldwell Connect  supports the following Operating Systems:  (keep your original licensed software with your computer)

  • Windows XP or above
  • Macintosh OS/X or above

Office 2010 is the campus standard, other suites are not compatible (MS Works, Word Perfect)

 

Required accessories: (can be purchased at the Campus Store)

  • Surge Protector
  • Ethernet Cable (15ft or 25ft) for wired rooms
     

You will receive an Internet connection only if your computer has the following active and updated:

  • Anti-Virus Program
  • AV definitions up-to-date
  • Anti-Spyware Program
  • AS definitions up-to-date
  • Automatic Update set to Automatic
  • Operating System patched and up-to-date

When purchasing a computer consideration an on-site service contract or extended warranty, lasting at least 3 years. Even parts in brand new computers can fail, and having a repair technician come to you is much more convenient than driving to an authorized repair center.

Caldwell Connect Student Techs are only required to get you connected to the Internet.  They are not trained to fix hardware or software problems pertaining to personal computers.
