CALDWELL'S MARK CORINO NAMED ECAC JOSTENS ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR

24, 2010 - Eastern College Athletic Conference
Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced that Caldwell College
Executive Director of Athletics Mark A. Corino has
been selected as the recipient of the 2010 ECAC Jostens Male
Administrator of the Year award. The ECAC Jostens Male and
Female Administrators of the Year awards are presented
annually to administrators from ECAC member schools or
conferences in recognition of outstanding or meritorious
service to the ECAC. Sharon Beverly of Vassar College is
this year's female recipient. (more)
CALDWELL COLLEGE ATHLETICS ANNOUNCES ITS INAUGURAL HALL OF FAME CLASS
August
23, 2010 - Caldwell College Athletics, in conjunction
with Cougar Pride, has established a Hall of Fame to honor
student-athletes, coaches and contributors who have played
significant roles in the success of the intercollegiate
athletic programs at Caldwell College. The Hall of Fame
inaugural class, the “Elite Eight,” will be inducted at the
Hall of Fame Dinner on Friday, September 24 in the George R.

12, 2010 - Caldwell College softball player Kyrie Timbrook (Los
Gatos, CA/Los Gatos) is one of six recipients of the Eastern College
Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete Award, as announced by ECAC Commissioner
Rudy Keeling. This is the second ECAC Scholar-Athlete Award for Timbrook,
who joins former Connecticut women's basketball star Rebecca Lobo as the

FIVE CALDWELL STUDENT-ATHLETES RECEIVE ARTHUR ASHE SPORTS SCHOLAR AWARDS
July 12, 2010 - Five Caldwell College student-athletes were among the Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar Award winners as announced by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine. Brianna Diaz (Chili, NY/Churchville-Chili) was named to the women's soccer first team. The other four honorees from Caldwell, rising juniors Titilola Alao (Ossining, NY/Ossining), Olga Ndhlovu (Bergenfield, NJ/Bergenfield), Kierra Tims (East Orange, NJ/East Orange) and Jorge Ynoa (Bayside, NJ/Bayside), were included on the second and third teams for their sports. Timbrook and Ingram are now candidates for the NCAA Division II Conference

Rising Caldwell College seniors Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell)
and Andrew Loughnane (Harrison City, PA/Penn
Trafford), and junior Olga Ndhlovu (Bergenfield, NJ/Bergenfield)
attended the inaugural NCAA Career in Sports Forum, held May
11-14 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Hoenig, Loughnane and Ndhlovu were among over 400
student-athletes across all divisions to be selected by the NCAA to attend the conference, which
is geared towards those who have an interest in pursuing a

KYRIE TIMBROOK CHOSEN CACC WOMAN OF THE YEAR
June
28, 2010 - Caldwell College softball player Kyrie Timbrook (Los
Gatos, CA/Los Gatos) has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference Woman of the Year, CACC Commissioner Dan Mara announced today.
Timbrook, who graduated from the College in May with a bachelor's degree in
communications, is now a candidate for the NCAA Woman of the Year award,
which honors senior student-athletes who have distinguished themselves
throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement,
athletics excellence, service and leadership. (more)

today, with nine Caldwell College
student-athletes included among the honorees. A total of 93 student-athletes
from all 14 CACC
member schools in the five championship sports were named to the
All-Academic Team, which requires a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50
or higher. Student-athletes also must be at least a sophomore academically

and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 to be included on

Feb. 19, 2010 - Several Caldwell College student-athlete alumni returned to campus on Wednesday, Feb. 17 to speak to current student-athletes about career planning. The career symposium and networking reception, titled From Pre-Game to Post-Game: Planning Your Career, was made possible by a CHAMPS/Life Skills grant Caldwell College received from the NCAA and organized by Athletics Administrator Megan Hrbek, who serves as Caldwell's CHAMPS/Life Skills coordinator. attend a reception hosted by Cougar Pride on Saturday, Feb. 27 in

Jan. 29, 2010 - The Caldwell College athletic department, in conjunction with the College’s Career Planning and Development Office, will host an alumni career symposium and networking reception for current student-athletes on Wednesday, Feb. 17. The event was made possible by a CHAMPS/Life Skills grant Caldwell College received from the NCAA. CALDWELL COLLEGE HOSTS BULOVA NETS WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL TEAM
Nov.
10, 2009 - In recognition of October being Disability Awareness Month,
the Caldwell College Athletic Department teamed up with the
College's Disability Services to host a
wheelchair basketball game on Oct. 28 between Caldwell College students,
faculty and staff and the Bulova Nets, a traveling wheelchair basketball
team associated with the NBA's New Jersey Nets. The event, which included
multiple departments and functions of the College as well as community
groups, raised $400 for the Bulova Nets, who rely completely on donations.

Oct. 29, 2009 - A luncheon recognizing the Caldwell College student-athletes who received the Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award was held Wednesday afternoon. Thirteen of the 20 student-athletes who earned the award in August gathered in the lobby of the George R. Newman Center with members of the athletics department, including Executive Director of Athletics Mark A. Corino and Assistant Director of Athletics Katie Kennedy, who organized the event. (more)

CALDWELL COLLEGE STUDENT-ATHLETES VOLUNTEER AT TASTE OF THE CALDWELLS
Apr. 1, 2009 - The Caldwell-West Caldwell Education Foundation (CWCEF) held its annual fundraiser, Taste of the Caldwells, at Caldwell College on Sunday, Mar. 29. Several Caldwell College student-athletes volunteered at the event, which raised over $25,000 for teacher grants and school equipment for all of the schools in the Caldwell-West Caldwell School District. Assistant Director of Athletics Linda Cimino, who coordinates Caldwell College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, worked with Ann Dassing of the CWCEF to provide the student-athlete volunteers. CALDWELL'S DR. SIME PARTICIPATES IN NCAA FELLOWS INSTITUTE
Feb.
20, 2009 - Most of the many roles within an intercollegiate athletics
department, such as coaches, trainers and athletic directors, are familiar
to most followers of college athletics. One role that is more
behind-the-scenes is that of the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR).
Dr. Patrick Sime, Associate Professor of Mathematics and Computer
Sciences, serves as the FAR at Caldwell College, and last fall he met with
other FARs at the Division II FAR Fellows Institute in Indianapolis, Ind.

CALDWELL COLLEGE TO HOST ECAC HOLIDAY CLASSIC DEC. 19-20
Dec.
5, 2008 - Caldwell College will be the site of two full days of college
basketball action when the ECAC Holiday Classic comes to the George R.
Newman Center Dec. 19-20. The men's and women's basketball teams from
Caldwell, Felician College, Mercy College and Queens College will
participate in the Classic, which consists of four games on each day. This
is the second straight year in which the ECAC has served as the primary
sponsor of Caldwell's holiday tournament. (more)

17, 2008 - Former Caldwell College men's soccer standout Andrew
Fraser (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's) was chosen the Outstanding
Student-Athlete for the 2007-08 academic year by the Collegiate Athletic
Administrators of New Jersey. Fraser received his award, which includes all
NCAA Division I and II institutions in the state of New Jersey, at the
CAANJ's Fall Meeting in Somerset, N.J., on Thursday, Oct. 16. (more)

Oct. 8, 2008 - Caldwell College’s Executive Director of Athletics, Mark A. Corino, has announced that the school has obtained a Speaker’s Grant from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for the purpose of a drug education-wellness program. The program, which will be held on Monday, Oct. 20 at 12:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the school’s Alumnae Theater, is entitled “Surviving the Party,” a high-energy, fun and interactive program presented by Elaine Pasqua, who is an NCAA-approved speaker. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) will add women’s lacrosse
and men’s tennis to its list of sponsored sports in 2008-09, according to an
announcement by Commissioner Dan Mara. The inaugural championship
tournaments for both sports will be held in April of 2009. With the addition
of men's tennis, all 11 of Caldwell College's intercollegiate sports are

Harriott (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Campion) has been chosen the Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, along with
women's cross country runner Joy Aifuwa of the University of the Sciences,
CACC Commissioner Dan Mara announced today. Harriott and Aifuwa are now
eligible for the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association

Caldwell College student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom, as 50
student-athletes were named to the Dean's List for the 2008 spring semester.
Caldwell College requires a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher for the
semester to be included on the Dean’s List, not an easy task for students
who must balance their studies with the commitment it takes to be a part of

Feb. 25, 2008 - The Caldwell College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will host “Think Pink” Day on Wednesday, Feb. 27, as a part of a national breast cancer awareness program initiated by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. The Cougar basketball teams will play Nyack College in the George R. Newman Center, with the women’s game starting at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children, with proceeds and any additional donations going to the Breast Cancer Fund and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Caldwell College men's and women's basketball teams, along with Cougar
Pride, are hosting Basketball Alumni Day on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the George
R. Newman Center. Former players from both men's and women's teams will be
playing in alumni games to highlight a fun and enjoyable day for the whole

Jan. 18, 2008 - Caldwell College Executive Director of Athletics Mark A. Corino, along with Assistant Director of Athletics Linda Cimino, were invited to speak at a Kiwanis Club of Caldwell/West Essex meeting on Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Women's Club of Caldwell. Corino and Cimino both spoke about the recent community service activities of the Caldwell College Student-Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), and discussed partnering with the Kiwanis Club for future events. CALDWELL COLLEGE OBTAINS NCAA SPEAKER'S GRANT
Jan. 15, 2008 - Caldwell College’s Executive Director of Athletics, Mark A. Corino, has announced that the school has obtained a Speaker’s Grant from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for the purpose of a drug education-wellness program. The program, which will be held on Monday, Jan. 28 at both noon and 7:00 p.m. in the school’s Alumni Theatre, will focus specifically on “The Four Stages of Drinking” and will be delivered by Mike Green, an NCAA approved speaker on this topic and President of Collegiate Consultants on Drugs and Alcohol. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) is pleased to announce a
partnership with Penn Atlantic, Inc., to video stream live basketball games
on the world-wide-web this season. This partnership will allow fans to watch
and listen to live games from the comfort of their home for a small fee.
Caldwell College, which has broadcast the past two men's and women's
basketball doubleheaders, will be broadcasting the remaining home games for

COUGARS LEND HELPING HAND ON HALLOWEEN
Nov. 2, 2007 - Several Caldwell College student-athletes helped some local trick-or-treaters celebrate Halloween by passing out candy on Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell, N.J., yesterday. Assistant Director of Athletics Linda Cimino, who coordinates Caldwell College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and Rebecca Naylor, President of the Residents Council, worked with Ann Dassing of the Caldwell Merchants Association to provide students to hand out treats in front of three shops in downtown Caldwell. Sept. 20, 2007 - The Caldwell College athletic department has been selected for the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills Program, the NCAA announced. The CHAMPS/Life Skills Program assists NCAA member institutions with the overall development of their student-athletes. Caldwell College is one of 39 institutions and conference offices that have been selected into the CHAMPS/Life Skills Class of 2008. The program now includes 584 campuses and conference offices nationwide. (more)
MARCY REDA RECEIVES CACC SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD

20, 2007 - Caldwell College women's soccer player Marcy Reda
(Phillipsburg, NJ/Bethlehem Academy) was awarded the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference Sportsmanship Award, CACC Commissioner Dan Mara
announced Tuesday. Reda, a four-year starter on the Cougars' soccer team,
and Holy Family's Chris Drissel are the CACC's nominations for the 2007 NCAA
Male and Female Sportsmanship Awards and will appear on the national ballot. (more)

May 30, 2007 - The Caldwell College Athletic Department announces the hiring of Eric Armstrong as athletic trainer. Armstrong joins Diane Froehlich as athletic trainers for Caldwell's 11 intercollegiate athletics programs, which compete in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference at the NCAA Division II level. DURNIEN-AMATO RESIGNS POSTS AT CALDWELL
Apr. 20, 2006 - Nicole Durnien-Amato has announced her resignation as assistant director of athletics and head women's basketball coach, effective May 11, 2006. Durnien-Amato, who also served as the athletic department's Senior Women's Administrator, has been at Caldwell since 1999 and was the Cougars' women's basketball coach for six seasons, compiling a record of 91-79. She is leaving Caldwell College to pursue other opportunities. (more)

46 STUDENT-ATHLETES MAKE DEAN'S LIST FOR FALL SEMESTER
Feb.
23, 2006 - The mission statement for the Caldwell College Athletic
Department includes the phrase "Excellence in academics and athletics."
Forty-six student-athletes, representing more than a third of all
student-athletes at Caldwell College, are shining examples of that statement,
as they were named to the Dean's List for the 2005 fall semester. Making the
Dean's List is no small feat for any student, as it requires a grade-point
average of 3.5 or higher. But when you factor in practices, games, travel and
other commitments that are demanded of student-athletes, the achievement is
that much more remarkable. All 10 of Caldwell College's intercollegiate sports
are represented on the Dean's List. (more)

HIGH SCHOOL GAME TO FOLLOW SATURDAY'S COUGARS DOUBLEHEADER
Jan. 19, 2006 - A high school boys' basketball game between Rutherford and St. Joseph of the Palisades will be played immediately following a college basketball doubleheader between Caldwell College and Goldey-Beacom College this Saturday, Jan. 21, in the George R. Newman Center. The women's game kicks things off at 1:00 p.m., with the men's game at 3:00 p.m. The high school game, which is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m., features a match-up between former Caldwell standouts Brian Gaccione, who coaches Rutherford, and Damian Kennedy, who coaches St. Joseph. Both players served as team captains at Caldwell College under Cougars' head coach Mark Corino. (more)

Bevin Walsh, a 2001 graduate of Caldwell College, returns to her alma mater to assist first-year head coach Steve O'Neal with the women's soccer team, and Matt McLagan joins the staff of men's soccer coach Jamie Nash. Feb. 25, 2005 - The semifinals and finals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments will be held at the George R.
