20 CALDWELL COLLEGE STUDENT-ATHLETES RECEIVE ADA ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

CALDWELL, N.J. – Twenty Caldwell College student-athletes were honored for their performance in the classroom as the Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Awards were announced. The Academic Achievement Awards, presented by WeatherPORT, recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level.

In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher, have completed a minimum of two years of college level work, and have played an intercollegiate sport during the past year. Caldwell College was one of 115 institutions that participated in the 2008-09 awards program, which honored 4,020 Division II student-athletes.

This is the second year of the award and the second time Caldwell has participated. Nine Caldwell student-athletes are repeat honorees: Ashley Collins (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Township), Ashley Cusack (Long Branch, NJ/St. Rose) and Jennifer Sullivan (Livingston, NJ/Livingston) of the volleyball team, Jorge Torres (Coral Springs, FL/Taravella) and Andrew Robertson (Coral Springs, FL/Taravella) of the baseball team, Danielle Cleary (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) of the cross country team, Samantha Rinks (Corinth, TX/Billy Ryan) of the women's soccer team, Kyrie Timbrook (Los Gatos, CA/Los Gatos) of the softball team, and Kevoi Walters (Clarendon, Jamaica/Clarendon) of the men's soccer team.

“Congratulations to our student-athletes who have earned this prestigious honor,” said Mark A. Corino, Caldwell's Executive Director of Athletics. "Their success in the classroom as well as in their respective sport supports their decision to choose Division II and Caldwell College, which is committed to excellence in academics and athletics."
