NINE COUGARS NAMED TO CACC ALL-ACADEMIC SPRING SQUAD
6-21-06
CALDWELL, N.J. – Nine Caldwell College student-athletes earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Academic
honors for the 2006
spring athletic season, the conference announced. A total of 70 student-athletes from all 12 CACC
member schools in the four championship sports were named to the All-Academic Teams, which require a
cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher.
Six of Caldwell's honorees were repeat selections to the All-Academic Team,
having earned a spot on the inaugural CACC All-Academic Team last spring. They
include softball players Gina D'Amico (Turnersville, NJ/Washington
Twp.), Stacy Falkowski (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads), Kristi Godfrey
(West Babylon, NY), Sara Neely (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) and Jessica
Saunders (Glen Burnie, MD/Archbishop Spaulding), and golfer Bard Skjelstad (Bodo,
Norway). This is the fourth time Skjelstad has earned CACC All-Academic
accolades, as he was honored in the fall of 2004 and 2005 as a member of
Caldwell's men's soccer team.
Men's tennis players Jan Marco Jiras (Lima, Peru) and Chris Laciura
(Teaneck, NJ/Paramus Catholic) also met the academic requirements for the CACC
All-Academic squad but were not included on the team, as the conference does
not award a championship in men's tennis.
This is the second year the CACC has named All-Academic Teams for each sports
season. Caldwell College placed 14
student-athletes on the fall All-Academic squads and five on the winter
All-Academic teams during the 2005-06 academic year.
