46 STUDENT-ATHLETES MAKE DEAN'S LIST FOR FALL SEMESTER

2-23-06
CALDWELL, N.J. – The mission statement for the Caldwell College Athletic Department includes the phrase "Excellence in academics and athletics." Forty-six student-athletes, representing more than a third of all student-athletes at Caldwell College, are shining examples of that statement, as they were named to the Dean's List for the 2005 fall semester. Making the Dean's List is no small feat for any student, as it requires a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. But when you factor in practices, games, travel and other commitments that are demanded of student-athletes, the achievement is that much more remarkable. All 10 of Caldwell College's intercollegiate sports are represented on the Dean's List.

Paul Douillard, the Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs at Caldwell College, has been pleased with the academic performance of Caldwell's student-athletes through the years. "Having so many student-athletes on the Dean's List is a good indication of our athletic department in that when we say student-athlete, we really do mean it," Douillard said. "Generally speaking, our student-athletes are good students who are disciplined and focused."

Earlier this month, 14 Caldwell College student-athletes were included on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Academic Team for the 2005 fall sports season. In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and be at least a sophomore in academic status.

"The continuing success of our student-athletes in the classroom is a credit to the hard work they put in, as well as the commitment of the coaches and the College to help the student-athletes achieve that goal," said Mark A. Corino, Executive Director of Athletics at Caldwell College. "I don't think we've ever had so many of our athletes make the Dean's List. It's a great accomplishment."
