CALDWELL, N.J. – Caldwell College student-athletes continue to excel in the
classroom, as 50 student-athletes were named to the Dean's List for the 2008
spring semester. Caldwell College requires a grade-point average of 3.5 or
higher for the semester to be included on the Dean’s List, not an easy task
for students who must balance their studies with the commitment it takes to
be a part of an intercollegiate athletic program.
Caldwell College’s athletic programs, which compete at the NCAA Division II
level, consist of approximately 140 student-athletes, meaning over a third
of the College’s student-athletes made the Dean’s List this past semester.
"To have so many student-athletes on the Dean's List is a credit to the
commitment of the student-athletes to succeed in the classroom, as well as
the commitment of the coaches and the College to help the student-athletes
achieve that goal," said Mark A. Corino, Executive Director of
Athletics at Caldwell College. "It is another indication of the College’s
promise to develop and support our students during their time at Caldwell.”
This past academic year, 20 Caldwell College student-athletes were
included on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Academic Teams.
In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must
have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and be at least a sophomore in
academic status. Additionally, senior men’s soccer player Nicholas
Harriott (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Campion) was selected to the ESPN The
Magazine Academic All-America third team.
