CALDWELL COLLEGE TO HOST "THINK PINK" DAY FEB. 27
2-25-08
CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will
host “Think Pink” Day on Wednesday, Feb. 27, as a part of a national breast
cancer awareness program initiated by the Women’s Basketball Coaches
Association. The Cougar basketball teams will play Nyack College in the
George R. Newman Center, with the women’s game starting at 6:00 p.m. Tickets
are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children, with proceeds and any
additional donations going to the Breast Cancer Fund and the Make-A-Wish
Foundation.
Breast cancer is the most common invasive cancer among women in the United
States, accounting for nearly one out of every three cancers diagnosed. Over
900 teams across all college divisions and at the high school level have
participated in this year’s Think Pink campaign to increase breast cancer
awareness. On Wednesday, fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game to
take part in this special day. Both Caldwell men’s and women’s basketball
teams will warm up in “Think Pink” t-shirts, and the coaches and game-day
staff will be wearing pink. “Think Pink” t-shirts also will be available for
purchase at both games.
Caldwell College will be honoring breast cancer survivors at halftime of the
women’s game. There also will be give-aways, raffles and more as Caldwell’s
SAAC raises awareness and donations to help fight this deadly disease.
“It has been remarkable to watch the support of this initiative grow from
120 schools last year,” said WBCA CEO Beth Bass. “With the help of each of
our members, the women’s basketball community can make a difference in the
fight against breast cancer.” |
