RYAN GARNERS MULTIPLE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
4-19-05
CALDWELL, N.J. - Sophomore third baseman Billy Ryan
(Toms River, NJ/Manchester) was named the Player of the Week by three
different organizations. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
made Ryan the second Cougar to win its weekly award. The ECAC and the
New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association both selected Ryan its
co-Player of the Week. Ryan helped the Cougars go 5-1 last week,
including a season-best four-game winning streak.
Ryan went 6-for-10 from the plate (.625) with three doubles, four runs
batted in and five runs scored as the Cougars won all five games in
which Ryan had an at-bat. In a three-game sweep of CACC foe Post
University, Ryan batted .727 (8-for-11) with four runs scored and
three runs batted in. He went 4-for-5 with three runs scored in the
series-opening 15-1 victory, then in the comeback 14-10 win on
Saturday, Ryan scored the game-tying run in the eight-run seventh
inning.
Also being recognized by the CACC was senior Mike Kolesar (New
City, NY/Clarkstown North), who was included in the Honor Roll for the
second week in a row. Kolesar pitched eight scoreless innings in
Caldwell's 15-1 win over Post, allowing seven hits and a walk while
striking out five.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, Apr. 20, when they play a
doubleheader at Dominican College, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Back
