WHITFIELD SELECTED TO ECAC DIVISION II BASEBALL ALL-STAR TEAM

N.J. - Caldwell College outfielder Hasani Whitfield (Briarwood,
NY/Molloy) has been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference
Division II Baseball All-Star Team, the conference announced today.
Whitfield, the 2005 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of
the Year, was one of three outfielders named to the 12-player ECAC
All-Star Team.
A two-time All-Northeast Region selection, Whitfield led the Cougars
in batting (.366), hits (56), doubles (14), home runs (six) and runs
batted in (41). The right-fielder was named the CACC
Player of the Week on Mar. 22, and he opened the season with at least
one hit in 22 of the Cougars' first 24 games, including a 15-game
hitting streak. In addition to his conference and regional honors, Whitfield was named to the
All-State first team by the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball
Association.
The Cougars, coached by Chris Reardon, went 22-20 and finished
third in the CACC standings with a 14-7 conference record. The 2005
season marked the third-straight year that Caldwell won at least 20
games.
