YORK NAMED CACC PITCHER OF THE WEEK

CALDWELL, N.J. - Junior righthander Derek York (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp) was chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced. York becomes the second Caldwell pitcher to win the award this season, as freshman pitcher Tommy Murphy (Monroe, NY/Washingtonville) received Pitcher of the Week honors on Mar. 21.

Through 11.0 innings last week, including a relief appearance and a start, York did not allow a run while striking out 12. The week was highlighted by a nine-inning shutout of Felician Mar. 31, in which York (1-1) fanned eight batters while giving up four hits. He also pitched 2.0 innings of scoreless relief against Adelphi on Mar. 29, allowing no hits and one walk while striking out four.

This week the Cougars are scheduled to play at Adelphi today and at Nyack College on Wednesday before hosting Concordia College on Thursday at Smith Field.
