CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team was picked
to finish fourth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference for the
upcoming 2006 season, according to the CACC Preseason Coaches' Poll
released today. The Cougars, who have finished no worse than third
place in the conference over the past four years, received 70 points
to rank behind defending CACC Tournament champion Dominican College
(95), N.J.I.T. (86) and Wilmington (79).
Last season the Cougars, coached by Chris Reardon, were 22-20
overall, including a 14-7 CACC record, good for a third-place finish.
They return all-CACC second team outfielder Nick Mauro (Nutley,
NJ/Nutley) and six experienced pitchers from last year's staff,
including 2005 CACC Newcomer of the Year Eric Hines (Milltown,
NJ/Spotswood) and senior starter Derek York (Lanoka Harbor,
NJ/Lacey Twp.).
Caldwell begins the 2006 season on Mar. 12 with a doubleheader at
