LYNDHURST, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team lost to

opener Monday afternoon at Breslin Field. The loss dropped the Cougars
to 5-10 on the season, while the Deacons improved to 7-13 overall and

answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third, then scored
single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-1 lead. Two
more runs in the bottom of the seventh allowed the Deacons to go up

sophomore Eric Theiss (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park) in the eighth,
but they would get no closer.
Sophomore Eric Hines (Milltown, NJ/Spotswood) gave up 10 hits
