PFEIL NAMED CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College freshman pitcher Stephen Pfeil (Hampstead, NH/Pinherton Academy) was selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Rookie of the Week for the week ending Apr. 23, the conference announced today. In four appearances, Pfeil was 1-0 with an earned run average of 1.69 last week.

In Caldwell's 4-3 victory at Post University on Apr. 21, Pfeil went the distance, allowing eight hits and one earned run while striking out a career-high six batters and walking none. He also blanked N.J.I.T. in the Cougars' sweep of a doubleheader, tossing three scoreless innings of relief to help Caldwell win 7-2 and 12-8 on Apr. 19.

Pfeil, who was named the Rookie Pitcher of the Week by the New Jersey College Baseball Association on Apr. 6, becomes the second Caldwell College freshman to earn CACC Rookie of the Week honors. Outfielder Jorge Torres (Coral Springs, FL/Taravella) received the weekly award on Mar. 14 and again on Apr. 10.

Pfeil and the Cougars (16-19 overall, 9-8 CACC) play a doubleheader at the University of Sciences today, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
