PFEIL NAMED NJCBA ROOKIE PITCHER OF THE WEEK

N.J. - Caldwell College freshman pitcher Stephen Pfeil
(Hampstead, NH/Pinherton Academy) was named the Rookie Pitcher of the Week by the
New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association for the week ending Apr. 2,
the organization announced today. In two appearances, Pfeil was 1-0
with an earned run average of 0.79 last week.
In a 5-1 victory over Philadelphia University on Mar. 31, Pfeil
allowed one run and six hits in 7 1/3 innings to earn his first win as
a collegian. He also pitched four innings of scoreless relief in an
11-4 win at Molloy College on Mar. 28, giving up four hits while
striking out three. For the week, Pfeil faced 46 batters without
allowing a walk.
Pfeil becomes the second Caldwell College freshman to be honored by
the NJCBA, as outfielder Jorge Torres (Coral Springs, FL/Taravella)
was chosen the Rookie of the Week on Mar. 28.
Pfeil and the Cougars (8-12 overall, 2-3 CACC) are scheduled to make up a game with the
University of Sciences today at 3:00 p.m. at Smith Field. They will
host Wilmington College on Friday, Apr. 7, at 3:00 p.m.
