TORRES RECEIVES NJCBA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HONORS

CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College freshman outfielder Jorge Torres (Coral Springs, FL/Taravella) was named the  Rookie of the Week by the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association for the week ending Mar. 26, the organization announced today. Torres, who was chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week on Mar. 13, hit .435 with seven runs batted in and five runs in six games for the Cougars (5-10) last week.

Torres had four multi-hit games as the Cougars went 4-2 in the games he played, with two hits each in wins over Oakland City University and Hillsdale College. He also went 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBI in a 15-14 loss to Southern New Hampshire. After going 1 for 2 at the plate and scoring both of Caldwell's runs in a 6-2 loss to Bloomfield College yesterday, Torres is batting .318 in his first collegiate season.

Torres and the Cougars will play at Molloy College today at 3:30 p.m., then host CACC foe N.J.I.T. in Caldwell's home opener on Wednesday, Mar. 29. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Smith Field in Parsippany, N.J.
