BASEBALL RANKED THIRD IN NCAA REGIONAL POLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team is ranked third in
the latest Division II Northeast Region Poll released Wednesday by
the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee. The Cougars, who also are
ranked eighth in the region by the National College Baseball Writers
Association, are 18-9 overall on the season, including a 9-3 mark in
the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
Caldwell, coached by Chris Reardon, went 2-2 last week,
including a 2-1 mark against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
opponents. The Cougars started the week with a 6-1 win at Nyack
College on Apr. 19. After losing to Adelphi University, the region's
second-ranked team, 15-11 on Apr. 20, the Cougars split a CACC
doubleheader with Wilmington College, 12-7 and 2-1 on Apr. 21.
Freshman pitcher Robert Casal (Howard Beach, NY/St. Francis
Prep) struck out 12 in the complete-game victory over the Wildcats
in Game 2 to earn CACC Rookie of the Week honors for the second time
this season. After splitting with Felician College on Monday, the Cougars
remain atop the CACC standings with a 9-3 conference mark.
The Cougars play a CACC game at Post University today,
beginning at 7:00 p.m.
