COUGAR BASEBALL RANKED NINTH IN NCBWA NORTHEAST REGION POLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team is ranked ninth
in the latest Northeast Regional Poll, which is conducted by the
National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The Cougars, who are
7-5 on the season, are tied with the University of New Haven and
Philadelphia University with nine points each. Franklin Pierce
College received all six first-place votes to remain atop the poll,
which was released today.
Caldwell, coached by Chris Reardon, traveled to Tennessee last
week during Spring Break and came back with a 3-3 record against
solid opponents from the Volunteer state. The Cougars defeated
Lincoln Memorial University twice and Carson-Newman College once,
while losing two games to Tusculum College, ranked 29th nationally.
Freshman outfielder Adric Saxon (Coral Springs, FL/Broward
CC) hit .360 on the trip, recording three doubles, two home runs and
13 runs batted in to lead the Cougars offensively.
The Cougars play their first home game on Wednesday, Mar. 28 against
Nyack College. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener
starts at 3:00 p.m. at Smith Field.
