BASEBALL MOVES TO 7TH IN NCBWA NORTHEAST REGION POLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team
is ranked seventh in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Northeast Regional Poll,
released today. The Cougars, who are
15-6 on the season, received 15 points to move up from last week's
ranking of 10th. Franklin Pierce
College remained in the No. 1 spot in the region with 50 points.
Caldwell, coached by Chris Reardon, went 4-0 last week, all
against Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponents, to improve to 7-1 in
the CACC. The Cougars defeated Nyack College and No. 10 Dominican
College before sweeping a doubleheader against the University of
Sciences. Freshman outfielder Raymond Keelan (Barnegat,
NJ/Southern Regional) batted .643 with six runs scored, six RBIs,
two homers and two doubles last week to earn CACC Rookie of the Week
honors. Currently the Cougars stand in first place in the
conference, ahead of Dominican (5-2), Bloomfield College (4-3) and
Wilmington College (5-4), ranked eighth in this week's poll.
The Cougars are scheduled to play St. Thomas Aquinas College on
Wednesday, Apr. 18 in a non-conference contest. The game
starts at 7:30 p.m. at Smith Field.
