COUGARS RANKED 8TH IN NCBWA NORTHEAST REGION POLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team
is ranked eighth in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Northeast Regional Poll,
released yesterday. The Cougars, who are 18-9 on the season, received
23 points and dropped one spot from last week's
ranking of 7th. Franklin Pierce
College (33-6) remained in the No. 1 spot in the region with 60 points.
Caldwell, coached by Chris Reardon, went 2-2 last week,
including a 2-1 mark against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
opponents. The Cougars started the week with a 6-1 win at Nyack
College on Apr. 19. After losing to Adelphi University, the region's
second-ranked team, 15-11 on Apr. 20, the Cougars split a CACC
doubleheader with Wilmington College, 12-7 and 2-1 on Apr. 21.
Freshman pitcher Robert Casal (Howard Beach, NY/St. Francis
Prep) struck out 12 in the complete-game victory over the Wildcats
in Game 2 to earn CACC Rookie of the Week honors for the second time
this season. After splitting with Felician on Monday, the Cougars
remain atop the CACC standings with a 9-3 conference mark.
The Cougars play a CACC game at Post University on Wednesday, Apr. 25,
beginning at 7:00 p.m.
