COUGARS RANKED FIFTH IN NCBWA NORTHEAST REGION BASEBALL POLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team
is ranked fifth in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Northeast Regional Poll,
released yesterday. The Cougars (22-11), who clinched the Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular-season title last week, received
30 points this week
after being ranked seventh in last week's poll. Franklin Pierce
College (41-8) garnered all five first-place votes after a 3-0 week
to remain No. 1 in the poll.
Caldwell, coached by Chris Reardon, defeated Dominican College
8-7 on Apr. 30 and lost at Post University 10-5 on May 3 to finish
11-5 in conference play. This is the second CACC regular-season
crown during Reardon's seven-year tenure at Caldwell, as the Cougars
also finished first in the conference standings in 2003. The Cougars
earned the top seed in this week's CACC Tournament, which begins on
Thursday, May 10.
The Cougars will play fourth-seeded Dominican College in the first
round of the CACC Tournament on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Wilson
Field in New Castle, Del. Tournament play continues on Friday and
Saturday at Frawley Stadiumin Wilmington, Del.
