CASAL RECEIVES SECOND CACC ROOKIE HONOR

CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College freshman pitcher Robert Casal (Howard Beach, NY/St. Francis Prep) was named the baseball Rookie of the Week by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference for the week ending Apr. 22, the league announced today. This is the second CACC Rookie of the Week award of the season for Casal, who received the honor on Mar. 19.

Last week Casal tossed a complete-game victory over Wilmington College on Apr. 21, allowing just five hits and one run while striking out a career-best 12 batters in a 2-1 win. The victory gave Caldwell a league-leading 9-2 record in conference play and improved Casal's pitching record to 6-1. He currently leads the team in wins, innings pitched (50.0) and strikeouts (49) in his first collegiate season.

Casal and the Cougars host Felician College today in a doubleheader at Smith Field.
