KEELAN SELECTED CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
4-16-07
CALDWELL,
N.J. - Freshman outfielder Raymond Keelan (Barnegat,
NJ/Southern Regional) was chosen the Rookie of the Week by the Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference for the week ending Apr. 15, the
league announced today. Keelan hit .643 with six runs, six runs
batted in, two home runs and two doubles to lead the Cougars to a 4-0
record last week.
Keelan helped Caldwell get off to a good start last week by driving
in the game-winning run with one out in the bottom of the ninth in an
8-7 win over Nyack College on Apr. 10. Earlier in the game, Keelan had
a two-run single to spark a six-run eighth inning that tied the game
at 7-7. In Wednesday's 16-9 win at Dominican College, Keelan went 3
for 3 with a home run and three runs scored. Keelan closed out the
week with two doubles and a homer in a doubleheader sweep over the
University of Sciences Friday night. He is batting .393 with four home
runs and 20 RBIs in 21 games this season.
Keelan joins fellow freshmen Adric Saxon (Coral Springs,
FL/Broward CC) and Robert Casal (Howard Beach, NY/St. Francis
Prep) as Cougars who have received the conference's Rookie of the Week
award.
The Cougars host St. Thomas Aquinas College on Wednesday, Apr. 18 in
a non-conference game. The action begins at 7:30 p.m. at Smith Field in Parsippany, N.J.
