BASEBALL TO FACE DOMINICAN AT CACC TOURNAMENT

N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team opens play at the Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament on Thursday, May 8 at
12:00 p.m. with a first-round game against Dominican College at
Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Del. The Cougars, who tied with
Philadelphia University for the CACC regular-season crown, are the
No. 2 seed in the tournament after finishing with a 19-8 conference
record (29-17 overall). Earlier this season, Caldwell and
third-seeded Dominican (26-23, 18-9 CACC) played three times, with
the Cougars winning twice.
The double-elimination tournament begins with three games on
Thursday at Frawley Stadium, with top-seeded Philadelphia and No. 4
Felician College following the Cougars-Chargers game at 3:00 p.m.
The loser's of Thursday's first two games will play an elimination
game at 6:00 p.m. The tournament moves to Wilson Field, near
Wilmington College, on Friday with games at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00
p.m., then back to Frawley Stadium on Saturday for the championship
game at 11:00 a.m. If a second game is necessary on Saturday, it
will be played at Wilson Field at 3:00 p.m.
The Cougars won the season series with Dominican this year, winning
10-5 at Dominican and splitting a doubleheader at Smith Field. This
is the second straight year that Caldwell has finished atop the CACC
standings, having won the regular-season title in 2007 en route to
advancing to the NCAA Division II Northeast Region Tournament.
Caldwell's 29 victories this season are the most in the 13-year
history of the program.
