CALDWELL BASEBALL MOVES TO FOURTH IN NCBWA NORTHEAST REGION POLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team is ranked fourth in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Northeast Regional Poll, released today. The Cougars, who moved up a spot from fifth in last week's poll, received 51 points this week, while Franklin Pierce University received all nine first-place votes to remain atop the poll for the sixth straight week.

Last week Caldwell went 3-2 as the Cougars began their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule. After a 3-0 loss at Post University on Mar. 25, Caldwell evened its conference record with a 7-1 victory over Felician College on Mar. 27. Then on Friday, junior Eric Hines (Milltown, NJ/Spotswood) pitched all 10 innings in a 2-1 extra-inning victory over Adelphi University, ranked fifth in this week's poll. The Cougars wrapped up the week by splitting a doubleheader with Felician on Saturday. Caldwell's starting pitching has been solid lately, as the starters posted an earned run average of 1.73 while striking out 44 in 36 1/3 innings last week.

This week the Cougars play eight CACC contests, beginning with a doubleheader at Nyack College on Tuesday, Apr. 1.
