COUGARS TIED FOR FOURTH IN NCBWA NORTHEAST REGION BASEBALL POLL

4-28-08
CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team tied for fourth with Southern Connecticut State in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Northeast Regional Poll, released today. The Cougars, who have been either fourth or fifth in every poll this season, received 57 points this week. Bryant garnered eight of the nine first-place votes to take over the top spot in the poll this week.

The Cougars improved to 26-15 overall and 16-8 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference after going 4-1 last week. On Tuesday, Caldwell picked up a 10-4 victory over sixth-ranked Molloy College, which was ranked ahead of the Cougars in last week's poll. Sophomore Ray Keelan (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) hit a home run and also earned the win on the mound against Molloy. The Cougars also defeated St. Thomas Aquinas, who received votes this week, and swept the University of the Sciences in a CACC doubleheader last week.

This week Caldwell wraps up the regular season with non-conference games against the College of St. Rose and No. 7 Dowling, before ending the conference schedule with three games against Bloomfield College.
