BASEBALL COMPLETES TENNESSEE TRIP WITH LOSS TO LINCOLN MEMORIAL

HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Caldwell College baseball team lost to
Lincoln Memorial University, 4-2 in its fifth and final game in
Tennessee Thursday afternoon at Hennon Field. With the loss, the
Cougars fall to 5-7 on the season, while the Railsplitters improve
to 17-13-1.
LMU jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Casey Sedley's two-run home run in
the bottom of the first inning. Caldwell answered back in the top of
the second. Freshman Gabriel Molina (Bronx, NY/Monroe)
doubled home junior Jorge Torres (Coral Springs, FL/Taravella),
then later scored on a sacrifice fly from sophomore Omar
Velazquez (Astoria, NY/Long Island City) to tie the game at 2-2.
The Railsplitters regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the
third, and added another run in the seventh while holding the
Cougars to just three hits after the second inning to secure the
win.
Sophomore right-hander Buddy Riggs (Coral Springs, FL/Taravella)
started the game an took the loss, while junior Stephen Pfeil
(Hampstead, NH/Pinherton Acad.) tossed four innings of scoreless
relief. Molina and sophomore Adric Saxon (Coral Springs,
FL/Broward CC) each had two hits to lead the Caldwell offense. Mitch
Kramer pitched 7 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win.
The Cougars begin Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on
Tuesday, Mar. 25 with a game at Post University, beginning at 3:00
p.m. in Waterbury, Conn.
