KEELAN NAMED ECAC BASEBALL ALL-STAR

5-27-09
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College junior outfielder Ray Keelan (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) was selected an Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Baseball All-Star, the organization announced today. Keelan was one of just three outfielders on the All-Star Team, which includes players from Division II institutions which are members of the ECAC.

This past season, Keelan established himself as one of the top hitters in the East Region, earning All-East Region honors from Daktronics and the American Baseball Coaches Association while also being included on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference first team. He led the Cougars in seven offensive categories, including batting average (.387), hits (58), home runs (eight) and runs batted in (48), and was the only player in the CACC to rank among the top three in homers (second), RBI (second) and batting average (third). A two-time all-CACC second team honoree, Keelan ranks second all-time at Caldwell with 176 hits in his career.

The ECAC's membership includes 319 colleges and universities from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Illinois. Caldwell student-athletes have received weekly and year-end honors from the ECAC since joining the organization in 2004, and the men's and women's soccer teams and men's and women's basketball teams have competed in ECAC championship tournaments. Keelan is the fifth Cougar to be named an ECAC Baseball All-Star.

Caldwell, coached by Jay Messina, finished the 2009 season 18-23, including a CACC record of 12-15.
