COOK SELECTED CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

CALDWELL,
N.J. - Caldwell College freshman Matt Cook (Manalapan,
NJ/Manalapan) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
Baseball Rookie of the Week for the week ending Mar. 15, the league
announced Monday. Cook led the Cougars to a doubleheader sweep of
St. Thomas Aquinas College at the Palm Beach Challenge.
In his first collegiate start, the right-handed pitcher tossed a
three-hit shutout in an 11-0 Caldwell victory over the Spartans in
Game 2 of the doubleheader. Cook dominated the Spartan lineup,
striking out seven and walking one while not allowing a runner past
first base the entire game.
Additionally, fellow freshman Joe Doerrer (Middletown,
NJ/Raritan), who batted .500 and scored five runs in four games last
week, received honorable mention.
The Cougars continue their Florida trip with a game against the
University of New Haven, beginning at 11:30 a.m. in Lantana, Fla.
