In the bottom of the sixth, the Cougars scored three times, all with two outs, to regain the lead 7-4. Hilgenberg finished with four RBI, while senior Andrew Robertson (Coral Springs, FL/Taravella) had three hits. Briggs and JD Calabrese had three hits apiece for Nyack.

In the second game, the Cougars pushed three runs across in the bottom of the third on RBI doubles by Hilgenberg, Ynoa and Cook for a 3-0 lead. Senior pitcher Buddy Riggs (Coral Springs, FL/Taravella) stymied the Warriors' batters for seven innings, allowing four hits while striking out nine. With the tying run on third base, Riggs induced a grounder to first to close out the win.

Keelan registered three hits in the second game and Ynoa had two hits as the Cougars pounded out 11 hits for the game and 27 on the day. Riggs went the distance to improve to 2-1 on the season. CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team was predicted to finish seventh in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference this spring, according to the conference's Preseason Baseball Poll conducted by the leagues' 11 head coaches. On the mound the Cougars are led by senior right-handers Buddy Riggs (Coral Springs, FL/Taravella), Robert Casal (Howard Beach, NY/St. Francis) and Thomas Forkin (Oceanside, NY/Holy Trinity). Riggs had a breakout year in 2009, going 6-2 with an earned run average of 3.58 en route to being named to the all-CACC first team and the Daktronics and NCBWA all-Region second teams. He also holds the school record for career saves with 10. Casal, the 2008 CACC Pitcher of the Year, battled injuries last season following nine and 10-win campaigns his first two years at Caldwell. Forkin emerged as a reliable starter, finishing 3-3 with an ERA of 4.60 in 10 appearances.

The Cougars, coached by Jay Messina, open the 2010 season on Mar. 13 against No. 10 Franklin Pierce University at the Palm Beach Challenge in Palm Beach, Fla.
