COUGARS COMPETE AT CACC CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College cross country team finished in 14th place at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships Saturday morning at Belmont Plateau. The race completes the season for the Cougars, whose top runner was sophomore Kelly Ryan (Woonsocket, RI/Mt. St. Charles Acad.).

Ryan finished the 5,000-meter course in 57th place. She was followed by freshman Chelsea Loscalzo (Bayside, NY/St. Agnes) in 68th place, senior Abigail Troeder (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) in 71st and sophomore Rebecca Ashley (Bellingham, MA/Mt. St. Charles Acad.) in 72nd. Rounding out the lineup for the Cougars were freshman Sierra Parker (Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills) in 75th place, senior Danielle Cleary (Rockaway Twp., NJ/Morris Knolls) in 85th and freshman Gabby Rivera (Teaneck, NJ/St. Joseph's of the Palisades) in 86th.

Philadelphia University won the team title with a score of 31, while Danielle Burcham of Wilmington University captured the individual crown with a winning time of 19:52.68.

CALDWELL CROSS COUNTRY PLACES THIRD AT POST INVITATIONAL

WATERBURY, Conn. - The Caldwell College cross country team participated in the Post University Invitational Wednesday afternoon, finishing in third place in the team standings. Sophomore Kelly Ryan (Woonsocket, RI/Mt. St. Charles Acad.) was the first Cougar across the finish line.

Ryan took 10th place in the individual standings. The other five Caldwell runners finished within 30 seconds of each other. Senior Abigail Troeder (West Orange, NJ/West Orange), freshmen Chelsea Loscalzo (Bayside, NY/St. Agnes), Sierra Parker (Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills) and Gabby Rivera (Teaneck, NJ/St. Joseph's of the Palisades), and sophomore Rebecca Ashley (Bellingham, MA/Mt. St. Charles Acad.) finished 17th through 21st.

Next up for the Cougars is the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, Pa.

CALDWELL CROSS COUNTRY PARTICIPATES IN NJAIAW MEET

POMONA, N.J. - The Caldwell College cross country team competed at the NJAIAW Meet, held at Richard Stockton College on Saturday morning. The Cougars were led by senior Jaclyn Feola (Belleville, NJ/Belleville), who placed 35th overall in the 6,000-meter race.

Senior Danielle Cleary (Rockaway Twp., NJ/Morris Knolls) was next in 41st place, followed by freshman Chelsea Loscalzo (Bayside, NY/St. Agnes) in 42nd place. Due to injuries, the Cougars entered three runners and were not included in the team scoring, which requires five finishers.

Caldwell runs at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 3 in Wilmington, Del.

COUGARS COMPETE AT IONA MEET OF CHAMPIONS

BRONX, N.Y. - The Caldwell College cross country team participated in the Iona Meet of Champions Saturday morning at Van Cortlandt Park, placing 21st in the team standings. Freshman Chelsea Loscalzo (Bayside, NY/St. Agnes) was the first Cougar across the finish line in the 6,000-meter race.

Senior Danielle Cleary (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) finished 10 seconds behind Loscalzo. Seniors Jaclyn Feola (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) and Abigail Troeder (West Orange, NJ/West Orange), and freshman Gabby Rivera (Teaneck, NJ/St. Joseph's of the Palisades) all crossed the finish line within a second of each other to round out the Cougar participants.

Caldwell will compete at the NJAIAW Meet next Saturday, Sept. 29 at Richard Stockton College in Pomona, N.J.

CALDWELL CROSS COUNTRY BEGINS SEASON AT WILMINGTON INVITATIONAL

WILMINGTON, Del. - The Caldwell College cross country team opened the 2009 season at the Wilmington Invitational Saturday morning at Carousel Park. The Cougars, who placed 10th out of 11 teams, were led by senior Jaclyn Feola (Belleville, NJ/Belleville).

Feola, pictured, placed 53rd overall in the 5,000-meter race. Next across the finish line for Caldwell was freshman Chelsea Loscalzo (Bayside, NY/St. Agnes), who took 60th. Senior Danielle Cleary (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) and freshman Gabby Rivera (Teaneck, NJ/St. Joseph's of the Palisades) finished in 62nd and 63rd place, respectively, followed by senior Abigail Troeder (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) in 68th.

Next up for Caldwell is the Iona Meet of Champions, held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y., on Saturday, Sept. 19.
