CALDWELL FACILITIES
A long labor of pride was culminated in June, 2002 when the George R. Newman Recreation and Athletic Center was officially opened on the campus of Caldwell College. This 60,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility will be home to the offices of the Department of Athletics and features a 1,600 seat basketball arena, a fitness center with all the health club amenities, team and general locker rooms, aerobic room, a suspended track, meeting and game rooms and the College Bookstore.

Ground breaking for the Newman Center took place in Oct. 2000. Caldwell College’s Executive Director of Athletics, Mark Corino, who has been at the helm of the College’s transition to a coed institution since 1988, lauded the Caldwell College administration for its tireless effort in making the Newman Center a reality.
“To see this building from the drawing board to the eventual opening in June of 2002 is a testimony to everyone at the College, who have been so supportive in our continued growth,” Corino said. “It’s a new era at Caldwell College, but we can never forget all the students who have helped make this possible. Their commitment to a quality program can never be emphasized enough.”
Caldwell College has three tennis courts located in the back of the Student Center. An outdoor pool is available to the students during the spring and summer months. Part of the athletic facility is a baseball and softball practice area, which includes indoor and outdoor batting cages, a batting pit and bullpen.
The Caldwell College athletic field is the home of both the men's and
women's soccer teams, as well as the softball team. The field can easily
be seen from Ryerson Avenue as you drive toward the Caldwell campus from
Bloomfield Avenue. Surrounded by the Student Center parking lot, the
library, and the Mother Joseph Residence Hall, the field is easily
accessible to students who wish to watch the games or just relax in the
sun. Parking is available along Ryerson Avenue or in the parking lot, located in the back of the Student Center, which can
accompany 900 vehicles.
