COUGAR GOLF ADDS RECRUITING CLASS FOR 2007-08
7-23-07
CALDWELL, N.J. - Three student-athletes will be joining the Caldwell
College golf team for the upcoming 2007-08 academic year, head coach
Mike Andrusin announced. Andrusin's recruiting class consists of
Brian Luyster (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills), Joseph Vacca (West
Paterson, NJ/DePaul Catholic) and John DePeri (Wayne, NJ/DePaul
Catholic).
"I am excited to see how these three young men play this upcoming
season," said Andrusin, who completed his first season at Caldwell this
past spring. "They are all looking forward to competing at the
collegiate level and they each possess the drive to play well. I am
thrilled for the opportunity to recruit and coach for Caldwell, and I
think this will be a great season."
Luyster is a two-time all-Passaic County second team selection who
received all-North Bergen Interscholastic League honorable mention
twice. The past two seasons, Luyster finished in the top 15 at the NBIL
Tournament. As a senior, he led Wayne Hills to a record of 25-7.
Vacca received first team all-Passaic County honors twice at DePaul
Catholic, including in 2006 when he finished third at the county
championships. DePaul's most valuable player as a junior and senior,
Vacca also earned all-Northern Hills Conference first team accolades
three times.
DePeri was a teammate of Vacca's at DePaul Catholic, where he was named
to the all-Northern Hills Conference first team and the all-Passaic
County second team in both 2006 and 2007. He also placed fourth at the
county championships in 2005 and 2006.
The recruits will join a Cougar golf squad that returns four players
from last year's team that placed 10th at the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference Tournament.
