CALDWELL PLACES SEVENTH AT CACC GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

Del. - The Caldwell College golf team took seventh place out of 10 teams
at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Golf Championship, held
Monday and Tuesday at Back Creek Golf Club. The Cougars finished with a
two-round score of 705, with freshman Brian Luyster (Wayne,
NJ/Wayne Hills) leading the way with a two-round score of 173 to take
29th overall.
Post University won the team title for the third consecutive year,
posting a score of 601. Wilmington University (623) took second, with
Goldey-Beacom College (627) edging Dominican College (628) for third.
Freshman David McGregor won individual honors with a score of 142, nine
shots better than runner-up Thomas Lalonde of Dominican. The University
of the Sciences also had a score of 705, but the Cougars held a
tie-break advantage to take seventh outright. Last year, Caldwell
finished in last place at the conference tournament.
Luyster followed an 87 on the first day with an 86 in Tuesday's second
round. Junior Chris Parker (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) and
freshman John DePeri (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) each shot a 177
to tie for 32nd, while freshman Joe Vacca
(West Paterson, NJ/DePaul Catholic) finished one stroke behind to tie
for 34th. The Cougars' fifth player was freshman Rob Arena
(Sparta, NJ/Sparta), who took 45th.
The Cougars will wrap up the 2008 season at the University of the
Sciences Invitational on Friday, Apr. 18 in Philadelphia, Pa.
