CALDWELL GOLFERS OPEN SPRING SEASON AT GOLDEY-BEACOM INVITATIONAL

AVONDALE, Pa. - The Caldwell College golf team began the 2008 spring
season at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at
Hartefeld National. The Cougars, who were led by junior Chris Parker
(Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial), placed 14th in the team standings.
Millersville University won the tournament, while Gavin Smith of Indiana
University of Pennsylvania took medalist honors with a two-round score
of 147.
Parker followed up a first-round score of 86 with a team-best 78 in
round two to finish in a tie for 49th place. Freshman Joe Vacca
(West Paterson, NJ/DePaul Catholic), who shot an 82 in the first round,
took 55th, while classmate Brian Luyster (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills)
opened up with an 80 and placed 62nd. Freshmen John DePeri
(Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) and Rob Arena (Sparta, NJ/Sparta)
rounded out the Cougars' lineup, finishing in 76th and 78th place,
respectively.
Next up for Caldwell is the Holy Family Invitational on Friday, Apr. 4.
