GARCIA COMPLETES FIRST ROUND AT EAST/ATLANTIC REGIONAL

W.Va. - Caldwell College freshman golfer Daniel Garcia
(Guadalajara, Mexico/German School) opened play at the NCAA Division II
East/Atlantic Region Tournament with a first-round score of 10-over par
82 at The Resort at Glades Springs Monday afternoon. Garcia, who is the
first Caldwell golfer to compete at a regional tournament in the 15-year
history of the program, is tied for 53rd, 10 shots behind the early
leader.
Garcia began his round on the back nine and bogeyed his first hole.
After a pair of pars, Garcia carded four bogeys and a double-bogey over
his next five holes to drop to 7-over par. He then recorded his first
birdie at the NCAA Regional, shooting a four at the par-5 18th hole.
Garcia followed that up with another birdie on the par-4 first hole to
sit at 5-over through 10 holes. But a bogey at the 3rd hole and double
bogeys at the fourth and seventh hole left Garcia at 10-over through the
tourney's first 18 holes. Overall, Garcia shot two birdies, six bogeys
and three double bogeys on the day.
The second round begins Tuesday, May 5, with Garcia teeing off at 7:30
