GARCIA COMPLETES COMPETITION AT NCAA GOLF REGIONAL

5-6-09
DANIELS, W.Va. - Caldwell College freshman golfer Daniel Garcia (Guadalajara, Mexico/German School) wrapped up play at the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Golf Regional with an 87 at The Resort at Glades Springs Wednesday afternoon. Garcia is the first golfer from Caldwell College to advance to a regional tournament in the 15-year history of the program.

Garcia carded nine pars, more than in either of his first two rounds, but struggled at the end of the front nine. A quadruple bogey at the eighth hole and a triple bogey at the ninth almost ensured Garcia of his highest score out of the three rounds at the tournament. He finished well with six pars, two bogeys and a double bogey on the back nine. Garcia, who shot 10-over par 82 in each of his first two rounds, finished in a tie for 90th with a three-round score of +35 251.

The tournament ends the season for the Cougar golf team, which finished fifth at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament. Garcia and fellow freshman Randy Kurzinsky (Barnesville, PA/Dr. Phillips) earned all-CACC honors after finishing in the top 10 at the conference tournament.
