KURZINSKY NAMED CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

4-21-09
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College freshman golfer Randy Kurzinsky (Barnesville, PA/Dr. Phillips) was chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Golf Rookie of the Week for the week ending Apr. 19, the conference announced today. He becomes the first Cougar golfer to receive a weekly award from the CACC since the creation of the awards in 2005.

Kurzinsky was Caldwell's low man in both of the team's events last week. At the four-team Caldwell Invitational at Essex Fells Country Club on Monday, Kurzinsky took second individually with a 74 to pace the Cougars to a first-place finish. Then at Thursday's Nyack Invitational, he carded a 72 to finish second overall and help lead Caldwell to second place in the team standings. Kurzinsky has turned in the Cougars' lowest score in four of the team's five events this spring.

Additionally, freshman Daniel Garcia (Guadalajara, Mexico/German School) received honorable mention after shooting a pair of 75's in last week's events.

Caldwell competes in the CACC Tournament today at Back Creek Golf Club in Middletown, Del.
