COUGARS PICKED TO FINISH SEVENTH IN CACC PRESEASON POLL

10-25-04

NEWARK, N.J. - The Caldwell College men's basketball team was picked to finish seventh in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference by the league's head coaches, the conference announced today. Bloomfield College, which captured the CACC Tournament title a year ago, earned the top spot in the poll.

The Cougars, who tied for eighth place with a CACC record of 8-12 (9-18 overall) last season, received 73 points, one point behind Nyack and two points ahead of NJIT. Head coach Mark Corino begins his 17th season at Caldwell with four starters back from last year, including senior guard Ron Harris (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Central), who averaged 12.6 points and 3.1 steals per game as a junior.

The Cougars open the 2004-05 season on Monday, Nov. 15, when they host Stonehill College in a non-conference game at the Newman Center. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
