COUGARS TO PLAY IN ECAC CHAMPIONSHIP

3-7-05
CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College men’s basketball team has been selected to play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Championship, the conference announced today. The Cougars (17-14) are the third seed and will play second-seeded Holy Family University in the semifinals at the University of Bridgeport on Saturday, Mar. 12, at 12:00 p.m. Top-seeded Bridgeport and fourth-seeded Felician College will meet in the other semifinal at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The finals will be held on Sunday, Mar. 13, at 2:00 p.m.

The Cougars advanced to the finals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament this past Saturday in the Newman Center, losing to Bloomfield College. Caldwell had won their previous six games coming into the CACC finals, including an 89-62 victory over Holy Family on Feb. 25.

This is the first year Caldwell College has been a member of the ECAC and thus the first time the men’s basketball team will compete for the ECAC Division II Championship. Last fall, the Cougar men’s and women’s soccer teams participated in the ECAC Championships, with the men’s team finishing runner-up to Dominican College.
