HARRIS, PEREZ NAMED ALL-MET

CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College men's basketball players Ron Harris (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Central) and Manny Perez (Egg Harbor, NJ/Egg Harbor) have been chosen to the All-Met Division II second team by the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Association, the organizations announced today. Caldwell was one of three teams to place two players on the All-Met first and second teams.

Harris, an All- Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference third team selection, averaged 14.2 points, 3.6 assists and 3.1 steals per game for the Cougars in his senior season. He ranked seventh nationally in steals per game while setting a single-season school record with 98 steals. Harris, who scored 794 points in his two seasons at Caldwell, averaged 24.0 points over his last four games, including 23.0 points in the CACC Tournament to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team.

Perez, the CACC's Newcomer of the Year and a member of the All-CACC second team, led the Cougars in scoring and rebounding with 16.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. He scored in double figures in 27 of the Cougars' 32 games and tallied 20 or more points 11 times, including a career-high 31 points in an 89-62 victory over Holy Family on Feb. 25. Like Harris, Perez also was named to the CACC All-Tournament after averaging 19.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in three games.

The Cougars finished the 2004-05 season 17-15, including a 14-6 mark in CACC play to place third in the conference. For the second time in four years, Caldwell advanced to the finals of the CACC Tournament with wins over N.J.I.T. and the University of Sciences before falling to Bloomfield College. The Cougars also were selected to play in the ECAC Tournament for the first time.
