EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Four East Stroudsburg
University players scored in double figures as the Warriors beat
Caldwell College 84-69 in a non-conference men's basketball game Monday
night at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Cougars remained winless on the season
at 0-4, while the Warriors picked up their first win to improve to 1-3.
Caldwell received an outstanding performance from sophomore guard Nolan
Hall (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional), who poured in a game-high
27 points to go with eight rebounds. Naveen Mohiuddin scored 15 points
and Danny Hargrove had 14 points and a game-high 11 boards for the
Warriors, who never trailed in this game.
East Stroudsburg scored the first five points of the game and never
looked back, leading by as many as 17 during the first half. The
Warriors used a 15-2 run to take a 27-10 lead at 7:36 of the first half.
Fifteen points by Hall in the final seven minutes of the half helped the
Cougars cut the deficit to 41-29 at the break.
After falling behind by 16, 51-35 with 16:32 remaining, the Cougars got
within nine points at the 13:11 mark with a 10-3 run, keyed by five
points each from Hall and senior guard Angelo Garcia (Princeton,
NJ/Susan Wagner). But Caldwell would get no closer as the Warrior lead
ballooned to 19 points after a 12-4 run made it 73-54 with 6:27 left on
the clock.
Freshman forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor, NJ/Egg Harbor)
continued his impressive debut season with nine points and four
rebounds, while Hall also paced the Cougars with three steals and three
assists.
The Cougars' quest for their first victory of the season continues on
Thursday, Dec. 2, when they play at Nyack College in the Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
