RUTHERFORD,
N.J. -
Junior guard Sadot Williams scored a game-high 30 points to lead
Felician College to an 87-77 victory over Caldwell College in a Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference men’s basketball game Saturday evening.
The Cougars fell to 2-2 in the CACC and 2-6 overall, while the Golden
Falcons improved to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
The Golden Falcons jumped out to an early lead thanks in part to the
strong inside play of center Michael Pierrot and forward Thomas Johnson,
who each had strong first halves. Felician held a 33-29 halftime lead.
Both teams came out firing in the second half with Felician’s Williams
leading the charge. After starting slowly, Williams came on to lead
Felician to its largest lead of nineteen points with just under seven
minutes remaining in the game. The Cougars fought back behind freshman
forward
Manny Perez
(Egg Harbor, NJ/Egg Harbor), who finished the game with 16 points.
Caldwell would get as close as six at 79-73, but Felician hit its free
throws to preserve the victory.
Caldwell also got 14 points from sophomore guard
Jean Georges
(Vauxhaul, NJ/Spotswood) (pictured) and 13 points from junior guard
Mark Kelly
(Oakhurst, NJ/Oakhurst).
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, Dec. 18, when they play at
Pace University in a non-conference game at 2:00 p.m.
