PEREZ NAMED NJ HOOPS PLAYER OF THE MONTH

CALDWELL, N.J. - Freshman forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor, NJ/Egg Harbor) was chosen Division II Player of the Month by NJ Hoops, the publication announced yesterday. Perez averaged 15.3 points and 5.1 rebounds as the Cougars went 5-2 in January.

Perez, who leads Caldwell with 14.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in his first collegiate season, helped the Cougars move to the top of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference by scoring 17.0 points per game in four straight victories last month. He led Caldwell to wins over Dominican College and the University of Sciences by scoring 17 and 19 points, respectively, and had 18 points in the win over Goldey-Beacom College. Perez also tallied 20 points in a loss at Holy Family on Jan. 20.

Perez and the Cougars (8-11, 7-4 CACC), who are currently in third place in the conference, return to action on Thursday, Feb. 3, when they play at Post University. Game time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
