COUGARS TO HOST N.J.I.T. IN FIRST ROUND OF CACC

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College men's basketball team will
host N.J.I.T. on Tuesday, Mar. 1, in the first round of the Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament. The Cougars (15-13, 14-6 CACC),
seeded third in the tournament, will take on the sixth-seeded
Highlanders (11-16, 10-10 CACC) at 7:30 p.m. in the Newman Center. The
winner advances to the semifinals to face the winner of the Holy
Family-University of Sciences first-round match-up. The semifinals and
finals of the CACC Tournament will be held Mar. 4-5 at Caldwell
College's Newman Center.
The Cougars clinched third place in the conference by winning their last
four games, including an 89-62 victory over second-seeded Holy Family on
Feb. 25. With Saturday's 77-65 win at Wilmington in the regular-season
finale, the Cougars insured a winning season for the fourth time in the
past five years. N.J.I.T. comes into the CACC Tournament having lost its
past three games. The Cougars and Highlanders split the season series,
with the home teams winning both games.
The CACC Men's Basketball Tournament begins on Tuesday, Mar. 1, with
four first-round games at the higher seed. The first round of the CACC
Women's Basketball Tournament begins on Wednesday, Mar. 2. The
semifinals and finals of both CACC tournaments will be held at the
Newman Center on the campus of Caldwell College on Mar. 4-5. For the
first time, the winners of the CACC basketball tournaments will receive
an automatic berth in the NCAA Division II national tournaments.
