MEN'S HOOPS ADDS AUGUSTIN TO 2005-06 RECRUITING
CLASS
6-7-05
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College men's basketball coach Mark
Corino has announced the signing of Carl Augustin of Stony Point,
N.Y., to play basketball for the Cougars next season. Augustin, who
attended Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, N.J., joins guard Kevin Olivieri
(Old Bridge, NJ/Cardinal McCarrick) as incoming freshmen for the 2005-06
academic year.
Augustin, a 6-foot-2 guard, averaged 15 points, five rebounds and four
assists as a senior at Don Bosco Prep, earning a spot on the Bergen
Record all-Bergen County third team. He also received all-NNJIL
first team honors as a junior and senior, and was second-team
all-Suburban and honorable mention all-County as a junior. This past
season, Augustin helped Don Bosco compile a 21-4 record en route to a
spot in the North Parochial A semifinals. During his junior year, Don
Bosco went 24-4, captured the Bergen County championship and advanced to
the North Parochial A finals.
"I'm definitely excited to be going to Caldwell College," Augustin said.
"It's a good place for me both academically and basketball-wise. I felt
very comfortable there."
"Carl comes from an outstanding basketball program at Don Bosco Prep,
where he has played against the top teams in the area," Corino said. "Since
he has been well-coached at Don Bosco, Carl is in a position where he
can come in and possibly contribute for us right away. He is a good
addition to our program."
The Cougars, who went 17-15 and advanced to the finals of the Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament this past season, graduated
three seniors, including third-team all-CACC
guard Ron Harris (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Central).
