PEREZ SELECTED TO MBWA WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College sophomore forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor, NJ/Egg Harbor) was included on the PrestoSports/Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Honor Roll for the week ending Feb. 12, the organizations announced yesterday. Perez was one of nine players to receive votes for the PrestoSports/MBWA Player of the Week Award, which honors one men's and one women's player from the 70 colleges in the New York Metropolitan area.

Last week Perez averaged 24.0 points and 9.7 rebounds while making 58.5 percent from the field and 92.0 percent from the free throw line in three games last week. After tallying 18 points and nine rebounds against Bloomfield College on Feb. 7, Perez scored a career-high 34 points in the Cougars' 85-68 victory at Post University on Feb. 9. He closed out the week with a double-double, tallying 20 points and 14 rebounds at Wilmington College on Feb. 11.

Perez, who was named to the 2005 All-Met Division II second team after averaging 16.2 points and 6.1 boards per game as a freshman, has scored 924 points in his 58-game career at Caldwell College to rank 14th on the Cougars' all-time scoring list. He is averaging 15.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest this season for Caldwell, which is 14-12 overall and 10-8 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference this season.

Perez and the Cougars play a CACC game on the road tonight, when they face Nyack College in Nyack, N.Y. Game time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
