CALDWELL FALLS TO PRESBYTERIAN AT DISNEY TIP-OFF

BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The Caldwell College men’s basketball team dropped
its second straight game at the Disney Division II Tip-Off Classic,
falling to Presbyterian College 72-51 Saturday afternoon at the Milk
House in Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. The Cougars are now 0-2
on the season, while the Blue Hose pick up their first win to improve to
1-1.
The first half remained closed throughout, with seven ties and 10 lead
changes. With the score knotted at 22-22 with 7:38 before halftime,
Presbyterian scored the next five points on a basket by Grant Herren and
a three-pointer from Pat Kiscaden to take a 27-22 advantage. Sophomore
forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor, NJ/Egg Harbor) hit a lay-up to
cut it to 27-24 before Herren made a free throw with three seconds left
to give the Blue Hose a 28-24 lead at the half.
Although Caldwell tallied four of the first six points in the second
half on jumpers by junior Jean Georges (Vauxhal, NJ/Spotwood) and
sophomore Adam Sabree (Detroit, MI/Renaissance), the half
belonged to Presbyterian. Eight straight points for the Blue Hose,
including six from Sean Dixon, made it 38-28, then a 9-0 run later in
the half game Presbyterian a 53-35 lead at the 12:11 mark. The Cougars
would never get closer than 15 points, as the Blue Hose went up by as
many as 28 points in the second half.
Sophomore forward B.J. Suchy (Ronkonkoma, NY/Our Savior),
pictured, led all scorers with 17 points to match his career best, while
Perez grabbed a game-high 11 boards in a losing effort. Herren finished
with 11 points and seven rebounds to lead Presbyterian, who had eight
players score at least six points in the win.
The Cougars finish play at the Tip-Off Classic with seventh-place game
against the University of Bridgeport on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 11:30 a.m.
