GEORGES, LYNCH EARN ECAC BASKETBALL HONORS

CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College basketball players Jean Georges (Vauxhall, NJ/Spotswood) and Mackenzie Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) have been named Division II Basketball All-Stars by the Eastern College Athletic Conference, the organization announced. Georges, a senior at Caldwell, was selected to the Men's First Team, while Lynch, a sophomore, received honorable mention on the women's team. The two standouts recently earned all-Met and all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference accolades following successful seasons this past winter.

A 6-foot-3 senior guard, Georges led the Cougars in scoring at 18.0 points per game to rank fifth in the CACC. He also paced the conference in three-point shooting, making 43.8 percent from beyond the arc. In addition to making the all-CACC first team, Georges was named the Most Valuable Player of the CACC Tournament after averaging 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals as the Cougars won the conference title and advanced to their first NCAA Tournament. A first team all-CACC and all-Met choice this past season, Georges finished his career with 1,447 points to rank fifth on the Cougars' all-time scoring list. He also ranks third in three-pointers made with 173 and fourth in free throws made with 398.

Lynch, a 5-11 forward, led the Cougars' women's team in scoring and rebounding in her first season at Caldwell, averaging 18.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game to rank fourth and second in the CACC, respectively. In an 82-72 overtime win at the University of Sciences on Dec. 9, she recorded 44 points and 22 rebounds, both career highs. That performance helped Lynch earn CACC, ECAC and Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week honors on Dec. 11. She also recorded 11 double-doubles in her 21 games played before an injury sidelined her for the final six games of the season. An all-CACC second team selection, Lynch recently was named to the all-Met first team by the MBWA.

The ECAC's membership includes 320 colleges and universities from Maine to Georgia and westerly to Illinois. Since Caldwell College joined the ECAC in 2004, Caldwell student-athletes have received weekly and year-end honors from the ECAC, and the men's and women's soccer teams and men's basketball team have competed in ECAC championship tournaments.
