GEORGES, SUCHY RECEIVE ALL-CACC HONORS

2-26-07
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College men's basketball players Jean Georges (Vauxhal, NJ/Spotswood) and B.J. Suchy (Ronkonkoma, NY/Our Savior) were included on the all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference teams, the league announced today. Georges, who earned all-CACC second team honors in 2006, is on the first team this season, while Suchy appears on the third team.

Georges, a 6-foot 3 senior guard, leads the Cougars in scoring at 18.3 points per game this season, which ranks fifth in the CACC. He also paces the CACC in three-point shooting, making 43.4 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc. Earlier this season, Georges became the 13th Caldwell men's basketball player to score 1,000 career points, surpassing the milestone in an 82-58 victory over Felician College on Dec. 5. He also earned Most Valuable Player honors at the Commerce Bank Cougar Classic and was chosen the Division II Player of the Month for December by NJ Hoops. Caldwell's fifth leading scorer all-time with 1,381 career points, Georges also ranks third in three-pointers made with 165.

Suchy, a 6-foot-6 forward, is averaging 13.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for the Cougars to rank rank second on the team in both categories. Suchy gave Cougar fans one of the most exciting moments of the season when he hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to defeat rival Bloomfield College, 74-71 on Nov. 28. Later that same week, he totaled 37 points and 10 rebounds in two wins at the Commerce Bank Cougar Classic, earning a spot on the all-Tournament team en route to being named CACC Player of the Week on Dec. 4. Suchy, who tallied a career-best 24 points in a 67-66 win over Holy Family on Feb. 10, has scored 845 career points to rank 19th on Caldwell's all-time scoring list.

The fifth-seeded Cougars (16-11 overall, 11-9 CACC), who are coached by Mark Corino, play at fourth-seeded Goldey-Beacom College on Tuesday, Feb. 27 in the first round of the CACC Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Wilmington, Del.
