CALDWELL,
N.J. - Caldwell College senior guard Jean Georges
(Vauxhall, NJ/Spotswood) was named to the all-Metropolitan Division
II Men's Basketball First Team by the National Invitation Tournament
and the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association, the MBWA
announced today. This is the second consecutive year on the all-Met
first team for Georges, who also is a two-time all-Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference first team selection.
A 6-foot-3 senior guard, Georges led the Cougars in scoring at 18.0
points per game to rank fifth in the CACC. He also paced the
conference in three-point shooting, making 43.8 percent from beyond
the arc. In addition to making the all-CACC first team, Georges was
named the Most Valuable Player of the CACC Tournament after averaging 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals
as the Cougars won the conference title for the sixth time in the
20-year history of the program. He then scored a team-high 16 points
as the Cougars narrowly missed upsetting No. 2 Bentley College in
the first round of the NCAA Northeast Region Tournament.
In addition to earning all-conference and all-Met honors, Georges
was named the Division II Player of the Month for January by NJ
Hoops, earned MVP honors at the Commerce Bank Cougar Classic and was
chosen CACC Player of the Week twice during his senior season.
Georges, who became the 13th men's basketball player at Caldwell to
score 1,000 career points, finished his career with 1,447 points to
rank fifth on the Cougars' all-time scoring list. He also ranks
third in three-pointers made with 173 and fourth in free throws made
with 398.
Georges and Caldwell women's basketball player Mackenzie Lynch
(Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic), who made the women's Division II
all-Met first team, will be honored along with the other all-Met
performers at the all-Met Awards Dinner on Apr. 10 at the Giants
Stadium Club.
